A multi-purpose building element has a flat base (10) and at least two lateral encasing parts (12). The surface of one side of the base is provided with knob-like projections (16) in the intermediate spaces (18) of which pipes (38) and/or cables (40) can be laid. The base (10) and the encasing parts (12) are made of heat-insulating material.
