The base current of the switching transistor (T1) is rapidly reduced by means of a control circuit becoming effective during the turning-off of the switching transistor (T1). During the turning-off process, the change of potential of the circuit is used for turning on an auxiliary transistor (T2) via a series circuit consisting of resistor (R1), diode (D1) and capacitor (C1) connected to the switching circuit of the switching transistor (T1). As a result, either the base-emitter path of the switching transistor (T1) is short-circuited or an inverse base current is fed into the switching transistor (T1). <IMAGE>
