PURPOSE:To prevent sticking or the title sheet to a thermal head or adhesion of scum to the head from occurring, by providing a thermal transfer layer on one side of a base sheet and providing on the other side a heat-resistant slip layer which comprises a hardened coat obtained by irradiating a coated layer of a coating material comprising specified components with ionizing radiations. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer sheet comprises a thermal transfer layer on one side of a base sheet and a heat-resistant slip layer on the other side, which slip layer comprises a hardened coat obtained by irradiating with ionizing radiations a coated layer of a coating material comprising (a) 50-70wt% of a monomer having a 12C or higher straight chain hydrocarbon group and a radical-polymerizable unsaturated group, (b) 30-50wt% of a polymer and (c) 1-20wt% of a phosphoric acid ester or an alkali metal salt or alkaline earth metal salt thereof. A heat-resistant plastic film or a paper can be used as the base sheet. The thermal transfer layer may be either a thermal sublimation transfer layer or a thermal fusion transfer layer. When a plurality of layers differing in hues are used as the thermal transfer layer, color superimposition printing can be also performed. |
