The invention relates to feed additives for small animal husbandry, in particular the intensive rearing of poultry and rabbits, which additives are utilised in the animal body and favourably influence the taste of the meat, the additives having a content of flavourings, which comprise at least two different natural plant flavourings and also, possibly, one or more compound(s) contained in these or other plant flavourings and/or their constituents and/or, possibly, one or more flavour enhancer(s). The invention also relates to the combination of these feed additives to improve the meat quality, in particular to improve the flavour of poultry meat, in which these feed additives are admixed to the feedstuffs for the animals, in the case of multiple-stage rearing, preferably only to the finishing feed to be fed in the final phase, in amounts of 10 to 400 mg/kg of body weight, advantageously in the form of alcoholic solutions. By this means, the insipid taste typical of poultry reared under intensive conditions and the somewhat unpleasant accompanying taste are corrected. The meat tastes similar to meat from poultry reared under extensive conditions in the farmyard and garden. |
