PURPOSE:To retain a high bubbling pressure without impairing the retainability of phosphoric acid by mixing 30 to 40 wt% of SiC with an average grain size of 3 to 5mum into SiC with an average grain size of 0.6 to 1mum. CONSTITUTION:In an electrolyte retaining matrix for fuel cell using SiC as an electrolyte retaining material, 30 to 70 wt% of SiC with an average grain size of 3 to 5mum are mixed into SiC with an average grain size of 0.6 to 1mum. SiC grains with an average grain size of 0.6-1mum effectively fill gaps among SiC grains with an average grain size of 3-5mum. Accordingly, a high bubbling pressure can be obtained without largely impairing the retainability of phosphoric acid, and in addition, defects such as cracks are rarely generated. |
