PURPOSE:To perform a source coding regardless of the visual sizes of characters by handling equally the descriptions of both a 1-byte character and a 2-byte character in a collation mode of labels like variable names, etc. CONSTITUTION:A label extracting part 1 supplies a text buffer and extracts a label. In this case, it is also checked whether this label is equal to a 1-byte or 2-byte character. Receiving this information, a label converting part 2 converts the label into a complete variable name and a compressed variable name. The shift codes are added at the front and the back of a label so that the complete variable name is displayed as it is. While it is checked with the compressed variable name whether all characters in the label can be converted or not into 1-byte characters. If so, the 1-byte character string undergone conversion is used as a character string of the compressed variable name. A collation part 3 uses the information on the compressed variable name to check whether this variable name is registered or not on a variable name table 4. If so, the processing is finished. If not, the discordant label is registered on the table 4 through a register part 5. |
