A transconductance amplifier comprising a voltage divider including two identical resistors (Ro) connected between the bases (3, 4) of two first transistors (To1, To2) arranged as a differential pair, each having a first emitter area (eo). The junction point of said resistors (Ro) is connected to the base of a second transistor (T1) having a second emitter area (2e1), whose emitter, like that of the first transistors (To1, To2), is connected to a current source (6). For a ratio between the second and the first emitter areas (2e1; eo) equal to 4:1 the difference between the output currents (I1, I3) of the first transistors (To1, To2) increases as a linear function of the input voltage over a range which is as large as possible.
