PURPOSE:To perform stable recording and reproducing and reduce damage and friction as much as possible at the time of fast-forwarding or rewinding by providing a magnetic head with air outlets and intakes. CONSTITUTION:A tape guide mechanism consists of a magnetic head 1 and guide rolls 2a and 2b which are arranged on both sides of the magnetic head 1 to feed out a magnetic tape 5. In case data is recorded on or reproduced from the magnetic tape 5, air is discharged from air outlets 1c and 1d in head bases 1f provided on both ends of the magnetic head 1 to guide the tape, and air is sucked to an air intake 1e provided in a central head base 1g to stably bring recording and reproducing heads 1b and 1a into contact with the magnetic tape 5. In case of fast-forwarding or rewinding, air suction from the air intake 1e provided in the head base 1g is stopped with air discharged from outlets 1c and 1d of head bases 1f of the magnetic head 1 not to bring the magnetic tape 5 into contact with the magnetic head. |
