A hardenable plastic compsn. is based on a an aq. mixt. of at least one material (I) which sets upon hydration, inert fillers, natural and/or synthetic fibres and a water-soluble organic binder (II). The hydraulic settable material (I) is esp. cement or plaster. The binder (II) is e.g. a water soluble cellulose ether such as hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC), hydroxyethylmethylcellulose (HEMC), methylcellulose (MC) or carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) or their water soluble Na or K salts. The filler is e.g. sand, CaCO3, refractory earths, quartz powder, expanded clay, etc. The reinforcing fibres are e.g. short or long fibres of natural materials such as jute or cotton, cellulose, paper pulp, disintegrated paper, etc., or synthetic organic fibres such as acrylic fibres. The compsn. may also contain 2-4 pts. wt. of a waterproofing agent and opt. small amts. of dyes or pigments.
|
