The invention relates to a process for isolating trioxane from aqueous trioxane solutions by means of separation by distillation, according to which the vapour mixture distilled off from the evaporator in the heating of an aqueous trioxane solution to boiling is subjected in a first stage to a fractional condensation in a dephlegmator, arranged immediately after the evaporator, in the presence of an inert gas stream with a vortex motion, the water portion of the vapour mixture being condensed and separated off, and in a second stage the resulting trioxane portion of the vapour mixture is condensed in an absorber or condenser arranged directly downstream of the dephlegmator, in the presence of an inert gas stream while maintaining the vortex motion, and the trioxane is isolated in a separator. The process of the invention can be applied to all aqueous trioxane solutions independently of their trioxane content and independently of whether they contain further components originating, for example, from the preparation of the trioxane.
