A releasably fastened rear top (4) of a passenger compartment cover takes the form of a reversing unit having a targa hoop (7) and a hood (8) which is not as high, the targa hoop (7) or the hood (8) being optionally in the position of use while the respective other part is inserted into a loading space (17). The rear top (4) is therefore available and can be used at any time. It also permits the arrangement of an over-roll protection device (10) which is not visible from the outside. <IMAGE>
