PURPOSE:To produce the title glass for fiber having excellent water resistance and a high heat distortion point by controlling the B2O3 content in the glass composition at a low value, and appropriately adjusting the contents of other components to keep the dielectric constant low. CONSTITUTION:The glass for fiber is fundamentally composed, by weight, 70.0-80.0% SiO2, 0-2.0% Al2O3, 15.0-21.5% B2O3, 0-1.0% MgO, 0-2.0% CaO, 0-2.0% Li2O, 0-3.0% Na2O, 0-3.0% K2O, and 2.0-5.0% (Li2O+Na2O+K2 O). the glass composition has a low dielectric constant of <=4.5 at 1MHz frequency at room temp. Since the composition has excellent water resistance and a heat distortion point at which the composition is not deteriorated when the binder is burned, the composition is appropriately used as the glass for long fiber to be used especially for reinforcing a printed circuit board.
