PURPOSE:To erase data previously written on an EPROM by light without removing the EPROM from a substrate, to resist natural light on the outside and to enable writing and erasion several times by incorporating a light source erasing the data of the EPROM into a device body. CONSTITUTION:An EPROM 3 and a light source 1 for erasing the EPROM are juxtaposed onto an island 6, and a pad 10 for the EPROM 3 and a terminal 4 for the EPROM are connected by a bonding wire 9. An electrode 11 for the light source 1 for the EPROM and a power terminal 2 for the light source are connected by a bonding wire 9. The EPROM 3 and the light source 1 for erasing the EPROM are sealed so as to be wrapped in with a transparent resin 7, and lastly these EPROM 3, light source 1 and resin 7 are sealed by a package 5 for protection. When erasing data previouly written onto the EPROM 3, beams emitted from the light source 1 for erasing the EPROM reach the EPROM 3 through the transparent resin 7 by connecting a power supply to the power terminal 2 for the light source and driving the light source 1 for erasing the EPROM, thus erasing the data of the EPROM 3.
