PURPOSE:To aim at greatly reducing noise of a radial tire in which more than two belt layers are used, by using a belt containing therein vinylon cords having a specific high elastic modulus and a specific high strength in combination of a belt having steel cords. CONSTITUTION:A radial tire has a belt layer structure in which at least one belt layer having cords formed by twisting organic fibers together, and at least one belt layer having steel cords are used in combination. In this arrangement, the former belt layer has at least one belt layer containing cords formed by twisting vinylon yarns having a high elastic elongation of less than 2% under a stress of more than 4.5g/d and a strength of 15.0g/d, and the cords having an elongation of less than 3% under a stress of 2.25g/d and a strength of more than 9.0g/d when it is taken out from the tire. With this arrangement, it is possible to aim at greatly reducing the noise level of the tire without deteriorating the various characteristics of the tire.
