PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a document editing operation by discriminating characters between indents and displaying. CONSTITUTION:When there is a key input from a key input device 1, whether it is the indent or not is decided and when it is the indent, the indent is displayed on an LCD display device 4, thereafter, a mode is inverted, an inversion or a flash display is performed. The character inputted from the key input device 1 is displayed on the LCD display device 4. Under this state if the key input from the key input device 1 is the indent, the indent is displayed on the LCD display device 4, thereafter, the mode is inverted and returned to an ordinaly display. In such a way, since only the character situated between the indents is inversion displayed or flash displayed, the operability in the document editing is improved.
