Solid hydroxylammonium sulfate is reacted with an alcohol solution of an alkali metal hydroxide or alkoxide to produce an alcoholic hydroxylamine liquid phase and a sulfate-containing solid phase. The liquid phase is used for further reactions such as oximations and hydroxamic acid production, or for the production of other hydroxylammonium salts such as the nitrate, perchlorate, formate or oxalate. The different bases behave differently with regard to suitable and preferable solvents and temperatures.
|
