PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic feed device having the small off-track value by forming a pinion into a non-circular gear whose pitch line consists of curves excepting a circle or a straight line in consideration of a step rotational angle and the step straight-traveled distance needed for a carriage and forming a rack into such a shape that can engage said non-circular gear. CONSTITUTION:A motor shaft 13 protrudes over the surface of a substrate 11 through a hole 14 drilled through the substrate 11 and a pinion 15 containing a non-circular gear is fised to the shaft 13. The moving direction of a carriage 20 is controlled by a guide bar 19 so that a magnetic head 21 is moved in the radius direction of a rotary magnetic sheet. A rack 25 having such a shape that engages smoothly the pinion 15 is supported in a position controllable way. The backlash produced between the rack 25 and the pinion 15 is deleted by a compression spring 30 set between a guide bar support member 16 and the carriage 20. Thus it is possible to obtain a magnetic head feed device having the small off-track value to a normal recording track owing to said shape of the non-circular gear. |
