PURPOSE:To perform prompt positioning of a workpiece just after a support leg of a workpiece conveyed on a free flow conveyer comes into contact with a stop position by bringing a restricting member into contact with other support leg of the workpiece, thereby preventing the workpiece from bouncing. CONSTITUTION:Workpieces 2 and 2' having support legs 6-9 are conveyed on belts 1 and 1 constituting a free flow conveyer while being guided with a guide 17 in the direction of the arrow 15. When a preceding workpiece 2 closes contact points 3a and 3b of a switch 3, a stopping device 4 and a separating device 5 work. Projecting positions where contact pieces 4a and 5a project above the belt 1 are made so that the contact piece 4a is between support legs 7 and 8 and the contact piece 5a is between the workpieces 2 and 2'. Just after the contact piece 4a comes into contact with the support leg 8, a restricting member 10 is made to project resisting a spring 14 to contact with the downstream side of the support leg 6, and a positioning pin 11 is made to rise to engage with a recess 18. With the above arrangement, the workpiece 2 can be prevented from bouncing, the workpiece 2 can be positioned promptly, and a high speed conveying is made possible.
