PURPOSE:To obtain a disinfectant having excellent safety and workability, by adding a disinfectant to a water-soluble polymer, thereby converting a liquid disinfectant to sheet- or film-shaped disinfectant. CONSTITUTION:A sterilizing disinfectant such as benzalkonium chloride, acrinol, etc., is added to a water-soluble polymer such as water-soluble cellulose derivative or other film-forming natural or synthetic water-soluble polymer (e.g. hydroxypropyl cellulose, acrylic acid copolymer, gelatin, etc.) to obtain the objective sheet- or film-shaped disinfectant. The disinfectant can be produced by casting a solution of a water-soluble polymer containing said disinfectant for external use in a casting frame optionally lined with a textile material (e.g. gauze, cotton cloth, paper, etc.) and removing the solvent from the solution. EFFECT:It can be transported without breakage and stocked in a narrow space. Since the product is separately sealed one by one, it can be stored over a long period.
