PURPOSE:To enable a high degree of dehydration and to improve the dislodgment of dehydrated cake from a filter cloth by using a specific SO3-Fe2O3-Al2O3 inorg. liquid flocculating agent and acrylic cationic flocculating agent in combination for flocculation and dehydration of sludge. CONSTITUTION:A) The liquid inorg. flocculating agent which contains the basic iron aluminum sulfate having the compsn. contg. the Fe2O3 and Al2O3 in such a range as to satisfy the formulas [Al2O3]<=-1.4[Fe2O3]+50.4, 10>=[Fe2O3]>=1, [Al2O3]>=-0.8[Fe2O3]+29.8 and having the total weight concn. of the Al2O3 and Fe2O3 ranging 2-15% and B) the acrylic cationic high-polymer flocculating agent having an amino group or quaternary ammonium group at the side chain are added to the sludge and the added mixture is dehydrated. As a result, the high degree of the dehydration is permitted and the dislodgment of the dehydrated cake from the filter cloth is improved.
