PURPOSE:To generate an external character by taking in a character, a symbol, or the like on a cursor in a document screen as a base character of the external character to generate the external character. CONSTITUTION:When a call key is depressed, the font of the character on the cursor in a document memory is taken into an external character editing area. The external character is generated on a basis of the taken-in character. When a register key is depressed, the font in the external character editing area is transferred to a register area to register the external character.
