PURPOSE:To provide a room temperature-curable compsn. having excellent resistance to heat and weather, adhesion, etc. and suitable for use as a sealing material, by blending a specified polyether having terminals blocked with a hydrolyzable silyl group with an inorg. filler and a curing catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A polyether having an MW of 500-50,000 of formula I (wherein R<1> and R<2> are each a bivalent hydrocarbon group; A is a bivalent arom. group; Z is a member selected from the group consisting of groups of formulas I and II, etc.; R<3> is a 1-6C alkyl; R<4> is a monovalent hydrocarbon group; R<5> and R<7> are each a bivalent arom. group; R<6> is a bivalent hydrocarbon group; a is a number of 1-3; m is a number of 10-500; and n is not smaller than 1) in which terminals are blocked with a hydrolyzable silyl group is prepd. 100pts. wt. said polyether is blended with 3-300pts.wt. inorg. filler (e.g., silica) and 0.001-20pts.wt. curing catalyst (e.g. dibutyltin laurate) to obtain the desired room temperature-curable compd. When the compsn. is brought into contact with water, it is cured at room temp. to form a rubbery elastomer. |
