PURPOSE:To obtain a cylindrical alkaline storage battery at low cost by exposing a part of either end of positive and negative plates, binding the outer side of a wound plate group with a tape, welding a current collecting terminal to the exposed substrate, cutting the tape, then inserting the plate group into a container. CONSTITUTION:A part of either end in uper and lower parts of positive and negative plates is exposed and both plates are wound through a separator to form a plate group. The outer side of the plate group is bound with an adhesive tape so that the outer diameter of the plate group becomes slightly smaller than the inner diameter of a container. A current collecting terminal is spot- welded to the exposed substrate in the upper part of the positive plate so as to cover the exposed surface and to fix the plate group. The adhesive tape is cut and the prate group is inserted into the container so that the lower exposed surface of the negative plate completely contacts the bottom of the container. The negative plate also contacts the side of the container. Thereby, high rate discharge performance can be increased. |
