<p>A continuous frame (9) of resilient foam material is strapped to a patient with a central aperture (10) of the frame (9) surrounding the puncture area of an intravenous (IV) needle (1) inserted into the patient. A separate dome (20) with ventilation apertures (21) is attachable over the central aperture (10) of the frame (9) to shield the needle (1, 2). The IV tube (3, 7) is anchored to the frame (9) at a plurality of different locations such that tension applied to the tube (3, 7) is not transmitted to the needle (1, 2) to dislodge it.</p> |
