A reproducing machine in which an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member (10) is developed with a liquid developer material comprising at least a liquid carrier (58) having pigmented particles (60) dispersed therein. The developed image is transferred from the photoconductive member to a sheet of support material (34). The sheet of support material having the developed image thereon is dried by the application of heat to remove substantially all of the liquid carrier transferred thereto. This application of heat causes the pigmented particles at least partially to melt. The pigmented particles are permanently fused to the sheet of support material in image configuration also by the application of at least heat. This technique avoids the formation of micro-voids.
