PURPOSE:To form a free curved face having shape intended by an operator easily by designating a vector field function Fi that can be transformed designating a part of area of a curved face before transformation and forming a transformed curved face by multiplying it by transform vector Vi*. CONSTITUTION:A vector field function Fi is set to have transformation rate distribution expressed by a Gaussian distribution function for a transformed area of an ellipse. Here, a mouse 4, levers 5-7 and a track ball 8 are provided as input manipulators to input parameter necessary forcalculation in a curved face arithmetic unit 1. The mouse 4 inputs parameter Xi, Yi for setting a point of application CPi* on xy plane, and designates the point of application CPi* (Xi, Yi). Further, the lever 7 sets transform vector Vi*, and the curved face arithmetic unit 1 forms a transformed curved face from product of functions Fi and Vi*. A CPU of the unit 1 resets the position of the point of application, direction and height etc. of transform vector until transformation that conforms to elements of the operator is attained.
