An electric generator mounted in a turbocharger includes a rotor (4) mounted on a rotational shaft (1) of the turbocharger between turbine blades (2) and compressor blades (3) thereof. The rotor (4) comprises a single permanent magnet (4 b) fitted in an outer cylindrical sleeve (4 a) which prevents the rotor from breakage upon high-speed rotation thereof. The rotor (4) also includes a heat insulation portion (4 d) disposed between the permanent magnet (4 b) and the rotational shaft (1). The heat insulation portion may be an air gap or a heat insulating sleeve.
