PURPOSE:To improve the convenience by providing a means receiving a character code and a means decoding/discriminating the character code to an exchange. CONSTITUTION:The service or the like is designated by using the character code from information input/output devices (terminal equipments) 11, 41, 51, and the information input/output device is provided with a character code trans mission function, the exchange 2 is provided with a function 21 receiving the character code and a function 22 decoding/deciding a character dial. In calling the exchange 2 from telephone sets 1, 4, 5 when a character code representing a desired service class such as 'individual multiple access' or 'result notice' is transferred to the exchange from the information input/output device, the character dial decoding/deciding device 22 decodes and decides that the service is the combination of individual address designation communication, store and forward time extension delivery and transmission notice and the combination is executed in the network. The series of control is executed by a character dial controller 20.
