NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R is pheoxy-substituted alkyl) or a salt thereof. EXAMPLE:1-(2-Phenoxyethoxy)carbonylimidazol[1,5-a]pyridin-3-(2H)-one. USE:A remedy for amnesia and presbyophrenia. The titled substance has improv ing effects on oxygen deficient state and symptoms resulting from it. Consequent ly, it has cerebrobascular vasodilating action and improving action on cerebral function disorder. PREPARATION:A compound shown by formula II is reacted with a compound shown by the formula ROH to give a compound shown by formula I.
