PURPOSE:To enable rational control of an oil lubricating amount and an oil lubricating timing, by a method wherein plural insulated electrodes are situated in the proper level position of a cylinder liner, and the presence of an oil film is decided through electrical connection between an electrode and a piston ring. CONSTITUTION:Two or six electrodes, insulated by an insulating material 3, are situated in the proper level of a cylinder liner 1, an electrode electrically connected with a measuring device 4 produces a plus pole, and the other produces a minus pole. When an oil film is present between a piston ring and a cylinder, no current flows even when the plus pole and the minus pole are electrically connected with each other through the piston ring, but in view of a fact that a current flows when an oil film is absent, the current is measured by means of the measuring device 4. According to the measuring value, the number of revolutions, and a value by a crank angle measuring device 8, an oil lubricating pump 6 is controlled by means of a control device 5 to implant a proper amount of oil through an oil lubricating device 7 at an optimum timing.
