PURPOSE:To prevent the internal pressure of a secondary cell from rising at the time of quick charge thereof, by making a water-repellent film on a metal member having a metal dendrite of high affinity to oxygen, and by placing the film in contact with a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A metal member to a metal being subjected to water-repelling treatment and having a high affinity to oxygen is adhered as dendrite is placed in contact with the negative electrode of a secondary cell whose electrolyte is an aqueous solution of acid, alkali or the like. As a result, oxygen gas is produced on the positive electrode of the cell and absorbed by a mesh material at the negative electrode at the time of overcharge so that the oxygen gas is efficiently changed back into hydroxylic ions or water. Therefore, the gas is not accumulated in a hermetically sealed container, so that the internal pressure of the cell does not rise. The cell is thus prevented from being ruptured at the time of charge. |
