PURPOSE:To improve the heat exchange performance and simplify structure by shaping the metal hydride powder into a molded article having a penetration hole in the axial direction and inserting a metal pipe into the penetration hole and spreading the pipe and closely attaching the both. CONSTITUTION:Metal hydride powder is mixed with bonding agent and metal powder, and a metal hydride molded article 6 is formed by the pressurizing- shaping and baking so that a penetration hole 7 is formed in the axial direction. A metal pipe 3 made of copper, aluminium, etc. is inserted into the penetration hole 7, and an intermediate member is obtained by closely attaching the outer wall surface of the metal pipe 3 onto the inner wall of the penetration hole 7 by the pipe spreading work. Said intermediate member is cut to a proper length, and said metal pipe 3 is accommodated into a container 2 having a hydrogen passing port 1, drawing said metal pipe 3 outside. Therefore, the high heat transmissivity can be provided for the metal hydride, and the heat exchange performance between the metal hydride and the wall of the metal pipe can be improved. |
