PURPOSE:To attain optimum transmission by storing an optimum transmission parameter at each opposite terminal equipment into a memory section in the transmission with an opposite terminal equipment and sending the data based thereupon. CONSTITUTION:When abbreviated dial data is inputted in the transmission operation routine, a controller section 3 decodes it to read a transmission parameter stored in the address of a corresponding memory section 2. The control section 3 controls a MODEM section 4 based on the transmission patameter to set a MODEM speed and to control a line control section 5 thereby setting a transmission level and other required settings. Then the controller section 3 reads a full dial data from the address of the memory section 2 corresponding to the abbreviated dial data to control a line control section 5 based thereupon thereby sending the dial signal and the routine is restored to the transmission operation routine. As a result, the facsimile transmission with the opposite terminal equipment by the optimum transmission parameter is executed.
