PURPOSE:To prevent the shortening of the life of a cathode mother sheets by properly changing the relative height of the cathodes with a scraper to insert the blade edge of the scraper into the part between a mother sheet and deposit to extactly strip the deposit in electrolytic refining. CONSTITUTION:Plural sheets of the cathodes 2 are carried into a fixing and holding mechanism A and the head bars 2a of the cathodes 2 are imposed on a receiving base 4. The scraper 5 is then advanced from a stand by position toward the cathode 5 by a hydraulic cylinder 6 and while the blade edge 5a is pressed to the cathode mother sheet 2b by a pressing roller 20, the blade edge is plunged between the mother sheet 2b and the deposit 2c. The blade edge 5a is successively removed thefrom by the cylinder 6 and thereafter spiral gears 10a-10c are rotated by a driving motor 15 to move the head bar receiving base 4 to an optional height. The scraper 5 is then advanced to insert the blade edge 5a into the different position between the mother sheet 2b and the deposit 3c. The entire part of the scraper 5 is thereafter inserted between the mother sheet 2b and the deposit 2c to strip the deposit 2c.
