<p>PURPOSE:To improve the universality by mounting a retarder made of a generator on a power line of an automobile. CONSTITUTION:A flywheel housing 2 in which a flywheel is arranged is provided on the back side of an engine 1, and a transmission 3 is further coupled to the back side of the housing 2. A retarder 4 which is composed of an inductor type generator is mounted on the back side of the transmission 3. The retarder 4 has a rotor 7 provided with inductor poles 8 on the outer periphery, and a stator provided with an armature coil and a field coil. When a retarder switch is closed, the field coil is excited, and the retarder 4 imparts braking force to the engine or a vehicle.</p> |
