A strap fastening device comprises a pivot pin 19 extending between frame plates 16 and carrying a cylindrical snubber beam 18 and handle 20 to which is attached a second beam 23, the handle being attached to the pin 19 by slots 22 which permit limited movement of the handle to move the beam 23 toward or away from the beam 18. A cam member 29 pivoted between the plates and engaging in a slot 32 in the free end 13a of the strap, coacts with a surface 33 carried by the plates. With the cam member in released position (shown dotted, Fig. 4) release of the handle from the Fig. 2 position to Fig. 4 position relieves the clamping action of the beams 18, 23 on the strap which may then be pulled freely through the device to take up slack. The handle is then moved to the position 20b and the cam member 29 moved to the clamping position by pulling at an angle on the end 13a of the strap. Repeated movement of the handle between positions 20b and Fig. 4, and manipulation of the end 13a to apply and release clamping action of the member 29 allow the strap to be secured at varying tensions. The handle is held in the Fig. 2 position by a spring-loaded latch 26 engaging in notches 27 in the frame plates. |
