PURPOSE:To early detect the runaway of a program which executes the independent two types of programs alternately and in parallel, by putting the monitor pulses into each program and deciding the occurrence of runaway in case those monitor pulses don't appear alternately for each program. CONSTITUTION:A step where an instruction to deliver pulses to outside is written is added to a program that executes the independent two types of programs alternately and in parallel by a single processor 11. When the processor 11 works normally, an FF211 and an FF221 are set and reset by a pulse P1. Then these FF221 and FF211 are set and reset by a pulse P2 appearing next and counters 31 and 32 are not counted up. If the runaway occurs to cause a program II jumps into a program I, the pulse P2 is not produced and only the pulse P1 is produced continuously. As a result, the result signal (a) is outputted continuously with the signal (b) cut off. Thus the 1st counter 31 is continuously counted up and then counted over to deliver a carry C1.
