摘要 PURPOSE:The titled friction material suitable as disc brake, pad, etc., of automobiles, obtained by partially or totally replacing a reinforcing material of a friction material obtained by molding the reinforcing material, friction adjusting material, etc., and an organic binder with carbon fibers by gaseous phase method. CONSTITUTION:In a friction material obtained by molding (A) a reinforcing material such as asbestos, steel fibers, etc., and (B) a friction adjusting material such as organic substance, e.g. rubber, cashew, polymer, etc., or an inorganic substance, e.g. graphite, molybdenum, etc. by the use of (C) an organic binder such as one obtained by modifying phenolic resin with melamine, nylon, epoxy, oil, cashew, etc., the reinforcing material is partially or totally replaced with carbon fibers by gaseous phase method to give the aimed friction material.
