摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a tool steel having superior machinability and capable of being accurately formed into a desired shape with high efficiency by providing a composition consisting of specified amounts of C, Si and Mn as essential components, a specified amount of In and the balance Fe. CONSTITUTION:This tool steel having superior machinability consists of, by weight, 0.01-2.5% C, <=3.0% Si, <=3.0% Mn, 0.005-0.5% In and the balance Fe with impurities and can easily be formed into a working or cutting tool having a long service life. The steel may further contain a specified amount of Cr, one or more among Mo, W and V, one or more among Co, Ni, Cu and B, one or more among Nb, Ta, Zr, Hf, Ti, Sc and Y, Al, one or more among Mg, Ca, S, Pb, Bi, Te and Se, or REM in place of part of the balance Fe in the composition.
