摘要 PURPOSE:To control the quantity of light with sufficient response by exciting electromagnetic powdery fluid in a box body by electric or magnetic energy or the combination of these energy to control the quantity of light. CONSTITUTION:A light quantity control array 20 is constituted of an optical control part 22 and two magnetic force control parts 24. In the control part 22, two light transmittive materials 2 constituted by engaging box bodies 12 are joined to each other so that the box bodies 12 are zigzag arranged on the long axis surface of a permanent magnet 16. In the control parts 24, electromagnets 18 are embedded on respective positions matched with respective box bodies 12. The quantity of light radiated from a light source, irradiated from the upper part of the control part 22 and reached to a photosensitive drum is determined by the change of the light permeability in the box bodies 12. The box bodies 12 and the magnets 16, 18 constitute one optical quantity control device 10. The array 20 utilizes the zigzag arrangement and the common use of the magnets 16 to improve resolution for the control of the quantity of light. Thus, the quantity of light can be controlled with sufficient response.
