PURPOSE:To obtain a high definition picture by generating a vertical high speed transfer pulse from a photodetecting section and a storage section of a frame transfer type CCD during the vertical blanking period so as to exclude an undesired electric charge. CONSTITUTION:A drive circuit 5 consists of a drive section 5A generating a drive pulse 5a of the frame transfer CCD 3 and a synchronizing signal generating circuit 5B. The drive section 5A sends a vertical high speed pulse for resetting to the photodetecting section of the CCD 3 in synchronism with a storage time control signal Pc1 and the vertical high speed transfer pulse for resetting is sent to the storage section of the CCD 3 in synchronism with the 2nd storage time control signal Pc2. A storage time control circuit 6 uses an OR gate 6B to generate a pulse signal Pc2 only when the level of both the signal Pc1 and the blanking pulse Pb go both to an L level.
