The invention relates to a method for producing mechanical energy or electrical energy from chemical energy contained in a fuel, using a gas turbine. The compressed air used for the combustion of the fuel of the turbine 22 is humidified in a counter current humidifier 15 with several stages in order to replace part or all of the thermal dilution air by water vapour. The humidification water is at a temperature lower than its boiling point at the working pressure.
