PURPOSE:To measure the water content of grains by associating a forward/ backward rotation switching means for a couple of electrodes, a rotating speed detecting means, and a comparing means with one another. CONSTITUTION:Grains are crushed by the couple of electrodes 1 and the water resistance value is converted 8 into a voltage, which is A/D-converted and converted into a water content value by a CPU 5, so that the value is displayed. At the time of foreign matter is put between the electrodes 1, the CPU 5 inputs rotation stop information from a rotation sensor 4 through an interface 7 and commands a forward/backward rotation circuit 3 through an interface 9 for reverse rotation at the time of the output value is 'smaller' than a set value, thereby reversing a motor 2. Further, the sensor 4 detects the reversing of the electrodes 1 and the CPU 5 rotates the motor 2 forward and stops the motor 2 if the reversing operation is below a prescribed rotating speed and can not exits from a lock state. At the time of the output value is 'larger' than the set value, the CPU 5, namely, in case metallic foreign matter is put between the electrodes, the electrodes 1 are stopped immediately from rotating, thereby preventing the motor from being burnt.
