PURPOSE:To enable simultaneous formation of insulating protective films for many pieces of electrostrictive effect elements to be effected by a method wherein the insulating protective films are formed at the time the electrostrictive effect elements being in the state of a block. CONSTITUTION:Green sheets 7 whereon a mixed paste is printed are rotated at 180 deg. every other one sheet, stacked by the desired number of sheets and fixed by pressure by thermal press from the upper and lower sides to form a laminated material 8. This laminated material 8 is sintered in the following calcination profile (temperature is raised up to 1,120 deg.C at a rising velocity of 5 deg.C/min and kept at 1,120 deg.C, for 2hr and thereafter, spontaneous cooling takes place), then cut and processed in a block form by such a cutting and processing machine as a wire-saw to form a block 9. At this time, the internal electrode end surfaces 2a of internal electrode layers 2 are exposed on the left and right surfaces of the block 9 every other one layer 1. Then, a silver paste is coated on the left and right surfaces including these end surfaces 2a and a pair of temporary electrode layer 6 are provided. Insulating protective films 3 are formed by an electrophoresis method and the block 9 is cut and processed by such a means as an ultrasonic machining method to form a cylindrical body 10. |
