PURPOSE:To make it possible to shorten a transferring time and enhance printing speed, by providing a preheating means for heating an ink ribbon prior to printing. CONSTITUTION:A printing head part 1 is provided with printing electrodes 2 and a preheating electrode 3 for preheating an ink ribbon 4. A grounding conductor 6 is provided in the vicinity of the printing head part 1. When printing, the ink ribbon 4 is fed in the direction of an arrow A, and the preheating electrode 3 conducts an electric current to preheat the ink ribbon 4. Since the ink ribbon 4 has been preheated when reaching the position of the printing electrodes 2, when the electrodes 2 are supplied with electric current, the ink of the ink ribbon 4 is rapidly melted, and is transferred onto a transfer recording material 5. With the ink ribbon 4 thus preheated by the electrode 3, the ink-transferring time at the printing electrodes 2 is shortened, and printing speed can be enhanced. |
