PURPOSE:To obtain a simple, small and inexpensive sample support apparatus,by mounting a sample on one arm of a thermal balance utilizing a magnetic reaction in the same polarity between two permanent magnets. CONSTITUTION:A repulsive force works between N poles and S poles of a cylindrical magnet 9 and a bar magnet 15. As a vertical component of the repulsive force acts as upward force like a vector (p) to the magnet 15 and a sample 17 and the like, the sample 17 or the like is mounted on an arm 2 of the balance by this force. The horizontal component of the repulsive force each between N poles and S poles acts radially in all directions within the horizontal plane, but if the magnet 15 should be biased to one side within the horizontal plane, the distance between the magnets 9 and 15 in this side is reduced to increase the repulsive force thereby automatically correcting the bias. As the arm 2 of the balance is tilted toward one direction, a light shielding plate 5 moves upward or downward to change the quantity of light incident into a photoelectric converter 7. Thus, the balance can be always automatically adjusted to maintain a balance by increasing or decreasing the output of an amplifier 8.
