PURPOSE:To automatically estimate a precise parameter without complicated manual operation and to attain applicable control when a parameter is reset by providing an exciting signal generation clock and a switch. CONSTITUTION:If a parameter resetting request is issued in a steady state, the applicable control stops. Then an exciting flag is set to set the upper and lower limits of the controlled variable of a controlled system 1. Next the parameter of a model, which is estimated through a parameter estimation block 4, is initialized to change over the switch 10, and output operation is subjected to a holding block 12 through an exciting signal generation block 14 to fix the output on. A current value obtained from a sampling means 3 is checked by the upper and lower limits. After the controlled variable is different from a target value, the applicable control is again done to estimate the parameter of the model. Simultaneously the applicable on/off control is made according to the estimated parameter. Thus the precise parameter is automatically estimated without the complicated manual operation to carry out the applicable control.
