摘要 PURPOSE:To permit liquid crystal display of high contrast by forming a transparent substrate into multi-layered structure having >=2 layers of high-polymer material layers and laminating two layers of the high-polymer material layers in such a manner that the optical axis directions thereof coincide with each other or intersect approximately orthogonally with each other. CONSTITUTION:The transparent substrate 1 is constituted by adhering the 1st high-polymer material layer 11 and the 2nd high-polymer material layer 12 to each other by an adhesive layer 13. The 1st and 2nd high-polymer material layers 11, 12 consist of films which have optical axes, for example, which are uniaxially stretched. The 1st film and the 2nd film are laminated via the adhesive layer 13 in such a manner that the optical axis directions thereof coincide with each other or intersect approximately orthogonally with each other. The optical rotary power to linearly polarized light is thereby decreased and the liquid crystal display of high contrast is made possible when a traansparent conductive film is used as a transparent electrode for a liquid crystal display device.
