摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To heighten regenerating efficiency of a filter and an adsorbent by disposing the filter and the adsorbent in an exhaust passage to force regenerated gas to flow backward according to the operating condition. CONSTITUTION:A filter 28 for scavenging particulate and an adsorbent 30 for adsorbing ill-smelling component are disposed in order from the upstream side in a by-pass pipe 26 of an exhaust pipe 22. The second suction pipe 40 is connected to the downstream side of the adsorbent 30. Valves 36, 38 are provided on the by-pass pipe 26, and an introducing valve 42 is provided at a junction portion with the second suction pipe 40. Signals from an exhaust temperature sensor 50, an absorbent temperature sensor 52 are input to a control device 54, and when an engine is in the idling state and each temperature sensor output is within the predetermined value, the valve 36 is opened to let exhaust gas flow through the filter 11 and the adsorbent 30. When the engine is within the adsorbent regenerating region, air is introduced through the introducing valve from the second suction pipe 40 to return the regenerated gas which has passed the adsorbent 30 and the filter 11 to a suction pipe 16 through a connecting pipe 16.</p>
