PURPOSE:To obtain an attractive solid powdery cosmetic such as foundation, cosmetic powder, cheek rouge, eye shadow, etc., by irradiating the surface of the cosmetic with a laser beam, thereby easily applying a clear mark such as letter, figure, symbol, pattern, etc., to the surface. CONSTITUTION:A convergent lens 4 to converge a laser beam 2 and a stencil plate 5 having a bored part 5a of proper form such as letter, figure, symbol, pattern, etc., are placed in a path of a laser beam 2 generated from a laser generator 1. A solid powdery cosmetic 6 produced by pressing and solidifying a powdery cosmetic in a container is placed on the path beyond the stencil plate 5. Laser beam 2a is radiated through the bored part 5a to the surface of the cosmetic 6 to impose an irradiation mark 8 corresponding to the shape of the bored part 5a of the stencil on the surface of the cosmetic 6. The cosmetic can be easily and clearly marked without using an expensive impression head having technological problems, and the feeling of elegance of the cosmetic can be improved by this process.
